Can your PLN be used to help professional development post-course? If yes, how? If no, what limitations exist? Can your PLN be relied on to open professional?

I think my PLN is still remaining unprofessional since I only use them for recording my life. It shrinks down my audience if I don’t have anything “useful”. However, people may still be interested in my PLN. For example, my PLN is mainly about fine dinings and outfits. If people who are intersted in the restaurant that I have been and left comment, they may want to check out my post about that restaurant. There are some adjustments I can do to imporve my PLN. I need to be more professional when it comes to taking pictures. And I want my PLN to earn money for me.

– What is media literacy?

It is an ability to recognize whether the information you are received from social media is true or not.

– Why is it important?

Because it helps people to recognize what is right or what is wrong. And people believe in what they think is interesting rather than is true.
– Why is it dismissed?

She said that news on TV is business, they only show what makes the most profit. And they tend to affect people’s minds and to let people believe in what they see. So people won’t see a lot of information about media literacy, and it is eventually dismissed.

– Why should you aim for varied views but the factual consensus in your PLN?

It is good to have people who are not in your field. If something bad happened, we can share it in the PLN, and people may come to you and say this is totally normal. It is also good to have people in your field because they are the people having the same interest as you do, and their voice should be the loudest in the room.

The reason why we should also see the factual consensus is that if we are not, we will shield up and block information away.

Brad Baker uses his PLN to support the indigenous community. He also wants to be a “positive contributor” in society. In the meanwhile, he thinks people in the community have a healthy environment where people can treat each other respectfully and carefully.

o Which social media platforms are beneficial in education?

Twitter.

o Consider the equality that exists when all have the same platform to engage community dialogues.

Equality is helpful for people who not willing or be afraid to show their true thoughts. Especially for the vulnerable sector, they sometimes hard to find a community that can speak freely and objectively. What we can do is to understand and listen to their voice because they have been through things that we have not been through.

Having the same platform can help people recognize people from their group. By sharing thoughts and techniques in this kind of community, people will benefit more than ever. Because now they don’t have to learn things randomly, and they can now learn more efficiently.

o What are the benefits of a diverse and inclusive PLN in social media sharing that understands where you are coming from with messaging that impacts the community?

Having a diverse and inclusive PLN can benefit and complete your thought from many other perspectives. Knowing where people are comming from can help others understand different perspective under different culture so that people will learn from ideas that they might not have thought about.
